Burnett Foundation Aotearoa (previously New Zealand AIDS Foundation) has been at the forefront of HIV prevention in Aotearoa for nearly 40 years.

Individual Giving Specialist

We’re looking for a creative, data-driven fundraiser to take our individual giving program to the next level. We have an ambitious growth plan, and we’re ready to invest the budget, resources, and support needed to make it happen.

In this key role, you’ll develop compelling fundraising campaigns, enhance donor journeys, and drive income growth—ensuring we can continue delivering vital services to the Rainbow and Takatāpui community.

One day, you’ll be crafting a powerful tax appeal, the next, you’ll be deep in data insights, testing the best way to grow our monthly giving program. You’ll work across digital, telemarketing, and face-to-face fundraising, constantly looking for ways to improve donor retention and lifetime value. You’ll have the freedom to test, learn, and grow—because we’re serious about scaling our impact.

This is a unique chance to apply your fundraising expertise in an organisation committed to making a difference. You’ll be responsible for delivering engaging fundraising campaigns, optimising supporter journeys, and using data insights to drive donor engagement and retention.

He kōrero mōu: About you

We’re looking for an amazing human who can demonstrate a commitment to deliver this mahi, alongside:

  • Has a proven track record of delivering multi-channel fundraising campaigns, including F2F, Telemarketing email, and digital.
  • Loves data-driven decision-making and is excited to test, optimise, and iterate.
  • Is a strategic thinker, always looking for ways to improve donor acquisition and retention.
  • Is proactive, organised, and comfortable managing multiple projects at once.
  • Has strong storytelling and copy writing skills and can craft compelling fundraising appeals.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3+ years experience in Individual Giving, Direct Marketing, or Digital Fundraising.
  • Experience working with fundraising CRMs (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, or equivalent) and email marketing platforms.
  • Knowledge of donor segmentation, supporter journeys, and conversion optimisation.
  • Strong analytical skills to track and improve fundraising performance.
  • Understanding of HIV, sexual health issues, and specific health issues facing rainbow and takatāpui communities in Aotearoa New Zealand is a plus.
  • Lived experience in one or more of our priority populations (men who have sex with men, people living with HIV, Māori, people from high HIV prevalence countries).
